With Qi Irons, TaylorMade debuts its new Integrated System Design – a suite of technologies aimed at optimising each individual iron head. The advantage of our system lies in the ability to facilitate communication among key technologies throughout the engineering process. This is crucial because the face design, Speed Pocket functionality and mass distribution are intricately interconnected, collectively influencing ball speeds, launch angles and spin rates. Driven by organic face geometries, Cap Back Design and Speed Pocket technology, this comprehensive approach tunes the performance of each head to ensure ideal gapping, exemplary ball speeds and consistent launch angles throughout the entire set. The 4- and 5-irons feature a lower profile backbar design for a low centre of gravity that encourages easy launch and towering ball flights. On the other end, shorter irons showcase a backbar design with exaggerated heel-toe weighting for higher inertia, delivering enhanced forgiveness with the ability to control ball flight with scoring clubs. FLTD CG also plays a critical role in optimising performance throughout the set.
STRAIGHT DISTANCE
The majority of game improvement irons are designed in a way that exaggerates the right miss (left miss for left handed players). The Qi Iron features TaylorMade’s patented face technology designed to control face flexibility and eliminate “cut” spin for straighter shots through the whole set
INDIVIDUAL HEAD OPTIMIZATION
Each head has been designed to deliver specific performance for that individual iron. Starting with a foundation of maximum distance and forgiveness, the face design is tailored to deliver the launch and spin needed for straight, consistent shots with each iron.
FLTD CG
FLTD CG™ strategically positions the center of gravity (CG) lowest in the long irons and progressively shifts it higher throughout the set. The design produces better launch and playability in long irons with precision and control in the scoring clubs.
CONSISTENT PERFORMANCE
The Qi Iron shaping has been designed for consistent contact and a larger sweet spot. The increased blade length improves forgiveness while the redefined leading edge geometry is designed give players a consistent strike for higher launch.
